This guy was going around passing this off as a true story, right? So then this novel comes out, written by someone else without his consent, based loosely on this bullshit event he had reported. What does the guy do? He sues the author! In a stroke of genius, he sues the author for plagiarism! So the author's lawyer, and this is an author no one had ever heard of before, the author's lawyer gets this guy to testify on what parts of the story are works of creation on his part. At first the guy was guarded, trying to point to details in presentation, but as the trial progressed, the guy was admitting to having made up a little bit of the story here, a little bit there...

The guy won the trial against the author. And was immediately and successfully sued for libel by everyone the girl said she had slept with, because during the course of the trial against the author, he had admitted to making up just enough of the story for all these very rich men to show he had confessed under oath to having lied about them. See, he couldn't contradict his previous statements without being accused of perjury, could he?

Now, that unknown author? One of the rich men was a movie producer, and the "author" just happened to have been employed by him to read scripts.
